Welcome to my blog!

I'm Lori and I love to craft. I cross stitch, knit and crochet and anything else that takes my fancy! I love to make amigurumi and other knitted and crocheted characters.
I live in the north east of England and when I'm not busy with thread or wool I love to read thrillers and watch things on the TV that make me laugh. I have a love of tattoos too and have quite a collection!

Hello, sorry I'm late this week!

Hi everyone and welcome to my new followers, lovely to see you :-) I'm a bit late this week posting as been busy painting the hall, I hate painting! Now I'm hoping the smell of the gloss will go away quickly as it's awful! On the plus side it looks fabulous :-)

So this week and a bit has been busy. I got an email last Friday as a local craft fair had some last minute cancellations for their fair on Saturday so did I want a table, I thought why not, I had nothing else on. Not a great day for sales but whatever, you can't win them all! It was at the garden centre Plants R Russ in Sunderland and we were all outside in a polytunnel, WOW was that hot in the sun, sitting in a greenhouse all day! I was certainly wilting don't know about the plants! They have another fair tomorrow, the food and craft one this time as last week was just craft, and I'll be back there again. This one is the one I'm at every month this year. The weather is forecast for rain, obviously, it is a bank holiday weekend so what else would it be :-) Fingers crossed it doesn't put off people coming to a garden centre!

So lets see, what have I made in the last week and a bit....  a Witch's Cottage.

with a spider making lots of webs....

a broomstick and a black cat....

a ghost and a pumpkin.......

and a cauldron with something strange bubbling away inside! I added the bat button to finish it off and I love this one! It seems I wasn't alone as within five minutes of posting the pics on facebook it had sold, yippee! I've since made another one which is now in my Etsy shop and hope this will be a popular one.

Also this week, a couple more Little Ladies for Halloween,

Wendy the witch......

and Debbie the devil :-)

Also Snowball the cat, not very Halloween but I do love cats!

I was also approved to stitch and sell designs made from the fabulous patterns of Sublime Stitching :-) I love these designs so I'm thrilled about this! You have to apply and they check out your shops and send you a contract if your accepted to try to stop copyright theft which is a good idea. I've stitched two designs so far but not sure what to make them into yet, any ideas? I was thinking maybe little cushions or even just frame them but any suggestions are welcome :-) They need a good iron! The first is these cute little kokeshi dolls

and the second is this gorgeous pin-up fairy, I so love this one! I'll be adding some silver metallic stars around her. The pics aren't great as the weather is so dark and miserable here :-(

Almost finished a new mushroom too, this one is Geranium Cottage and should be done today and on Etsy. So I guess even though I've been busy painting still a lot done this week. Three mushrooms (almost) and three bag tags and two embroideries not bad!

Better get back to the preparation for tomorrow then, I'm making a batch of quick card bookmarks at the moment. Have a great long weekend everyone, hope the sun shines on some of you too :-)

Busy mushrooming :-)

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers, lovely to meet you :-) 81, woohoo!! I'll have another giveaway when I hit the big 100!

This week has been mushroom themed. I had been busy with the 3D cross stitch cottage that's on order but  it's not due until the middle of next month. I'd been busy posting all the pics of my stuff onto my facebook page and I got a custom order from there. A mushroom with a blue door, purple flowers around the door, yellow curtains and two dragonflies one the roof, one bigger than the other. I do love how specific people can be about what they want :-)  So this is the mushroom that I made from that description.

The dragonfly wings are stitched with metallic thread so they really sparkled.

Then I thought I'd better get on with an idea I'd had for a Jubilee Cottage or time would run away from me and I'd be too late! So this is what I came up with,

and a close up of the front detail...

I admit that I'm insanely proud of this one :-) It turned out so much better than I'd expected! I had an order for one in a couple of hours on facebook which I'm busy stitching up now and this one is in my etsy shop. Now I'm thinking of new occasions that I can make them for........I could make this one for the 4th of July with a stars and stripes on the flag pole :-)

So that's what I've been up to this week and the 3D cottage is growing slowly too.

Oh yes, I can now confirm the news I had a couple of weeks ago, sorry to tease you like I did! I was asked if I wanted to be featured in Craftseller magazine and I'm in Issue 11 out on May 8th :-) They are doing a piece in the Crafty Tales section about something that inspired my makes and there will be pics of my stuff, my website address and a pic of me (that is the photo on my profile). All good free publicity!  Speaking of the website, did I actually tell you about setting that up?? I probably forgot sorry! Anyway you can find it here, www.hippywitchcrafts.co.uk  It's a work in progress as I am totally fumbling around in the dark when it comes to web design!

Have a great week!

Busy, busy........and it's ami swap time!

Been a busy week this week! I'm still spending way too much time on my laptop trying to promote my new shops anywhere I can, hopefully when I get more used to this malarky I'll be able to spend way more time actually making things!

Firstly, if you look over to the right you'll see a facebook button, I bit the bullet and got me a page on there. I've always been a bit weird about joining FB but I have no real idea why! Anyway now I'm there :-) Also over to the right you'll see a button for CRAFTfest, I have a stall in this online Christmas craft fayre which is on the 26th and 27th of November. It'll be great for getting your Christmas pressies, there's going to be up to 150 stalls of hand made lovliness to buy from, all sorts of different crafts. It would be lovely if you could come and see us :-) Here's the link,  http://creative-connections.ning.com/

So now I have a shop on Folksy (here) as well as the etsy shop and the FB page and I think that'll be enough to be getting on with! I'm busy making things to list in them, almost finished a new witch at the moment, she just needs her hair on and she's done.

So I've been a bit busy! This means I'm a little late with this post for AMI SWAP TIME!!!! SO the swap for the end of last month was a fabulous one as ever, Steph sent me this utterly brilliant little girl in a kitty costume!

Isn't she fabulous!! Love the tiny kitten in her bag crocheted in thread :-) Thanks Steph I love this one so much! I made Steph a baby bunny with a felt flower on her ear....

which I'm happy to say she loved :-) And thanks Steph for taking the pic and sending it me after I totally forgot to take a photo before I posted it! Another gorgeous swap, it gets better and better and it's so lovely to get a present every month! Already planning this months ami.........

Well better get back to my witchy, she'll be cold without her hair on!
