Welcome to my blog!

I'm Lori and I love to craft. I cross stitch, knit and crochet and anything else that takes my fancy! I love to make amigurumi and other knitted and crocheted characters.
I live in the north east of England and when I'm not busy with thread or wool I love to read thrillers and watch things on the TV that make me laugh. I have a love of tattoos too and have quite a collection!

Grateful4crochet

Well done you! I'll get that off to you this week, hope you love it :-)

Also this week I received a lovely parcel from Laura I had been a winner in her giveaway for this fabulous little crochet purse filled with all these fabulous buttons, bells, eyes and crochet flowers!

and these goodies were from her holiday in Northumberland, not too far away from me it's a bit further north

postcards from Cragside, Lindesfarne and Barter Books where the original Keep Calm and Carry On poster was found a few years ago.

And these fabulous goodies too, love the wire fairy! A fabulous fairy bookmark and little wooden fairy stickers, buttons and lovely felt hearts too. Ooo there was a really cute cat magnet too but that's on my fridge and I forgot to take a pic of it!  Thanks Laura for a lovely parcel of goodies :-)

I'll be back in a few days with pics from the craft fair on Saturday, which was a lovely day, and some makes too for the travelling craft box as well as the goodies I took for myself  :-)

Have a great week everyone!

Ouch!

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers, lovely to meet you :-) Thanks to everyone who's entered the giveaway and if you haven't there's still time, it's in the post before this one and you have until Tuesday to get your name in the hat for a mushroom cottage.

Been a busy week again, I don't seem to have any other kind lately! Firstly a card I stitched for the lovely Helen's birthday, you can find her fabulous blog HERE It was another of the new stitched cards I've been trying out

I also stitched this biscornu for Helen, I haven't made a biscornu for a while and it was fun to make.

I had a custom order for a set of eight napkins to be embroidered with a little bird design for a wedding present this week too, I love how these turned out. The buyer had already had a set of napkin rings custom made out of reclaimed slate with the couples initials etched on them. They were gorgeous!

A ruby wedding card too was on this weeks list, I've made this one a few times with different coloured flowers. It's a lovely design and always looks pretty.

Today I made this mermaid dolly :-) Isn't she lovely? I'm really pleased with her. She measures 16 inches tall so is a big one! She was made with a Dolls and Daydreams pattern from  HERE

Here she is from the back with her lovely red hair.

On Saturday I was at the garden centre again with my new cloth on my stall. What do you think? I was really annoyed with the white sheet looking so battered and creased all the time and decided to make a better cloth. I went for the red with white spots as it looked like my mushrooms roofs!  I'm really happy with it but this is where the OUCH of the title comes in! I was busy sewing the cloth last week and one of my cats Poppy was having a blast jumping on the fabric on the floor, wrapping herself up in it. Well she pulled it hard and distracted me, the sewing machine needle went right through my index finger, in the nail and out the other side!! I have to say the air turned a lovely shade of blue :-) So for two days I was doing everything with one finger in the air because it was so sore! It seemed to heal really quickly though, I'm left with a hole in my finger nail and a little black dot on the other side but it's fine now I'm happy to say. But the cloth is fabulous and I didn't bleed on it, although it was the right colour for it!

There have been other makes this week too but they are for the travelling craft box which I've got at the moment so I can't show them until next time when it's on it's travels again. It's such fun getting to pick goodies out of the box and I have to say they are all fabulous, it's so hard to choose!

See you all Tuesday when I'll be back with the winner of the giveaway, good luck everyone!

Giveaway!!!

Hi everyone, it's been a mad busy week so I'm a bit late with this post as I only finished the giveaway prize last night.

So lets start with that shall we, this is a giveaway to celebrate me passing the 100 followers and to say a huge thank you to you all  for being so lovely :-) Who knew when I started this blog that many people would be interested in my stuff!

Lets start with  the prize, I thought why not make it a mushroom cottage as it seems to have become my 'thing' so this is Sunflower Cottage.

All hand stitched by me, I hope you love it :-)

As always the rules are simple, be a follower and leave a comment! I hate lots of rules so that's all I ask, if you want to mention the giveaway on your blogs go ahead but you don't have to, I don't mind. I'm happy to post anywhere in the world too so that shouldn't rule anyone out unless they live on Mars or something :-) I'll draw the winner on the 31st so you have the rest of the month to enter.

So onto the other things I've been up to this week and a bit. I had a lovely day yesterday as I had the chance of setting up my stall in the gift shop of a local garden centre. It was such a lovely place to be and I got half price lattes in the cafe all day too :-) I'm back there on Saturday too so that'll be lovely. Here was my stall yesterday

I really need to find a way of getting my cloth to stay ironed while getting it to these fairs! It starts out so nice then seems to crumple itself to bits on the way, what's that all about? Anyway I have an idea to change the cloth for something better soon :-)

For the day there I made a batch of daisy hearts last week, lots of them! You can see them in the basket in the middle of the table.

I had an order last week too for a toadstool, which I had fun with.....

and an embroidered Peppa Pig card for a little boys 2nd birthday, he's called Sebastian but is known as Sebbie,

Pleased to say they were loved :-) So that's what I've been busy with for the last week. Oh yes almost forgot, my big brothers birthday is on Wednesday and I thought I'd try something new, a stitched card where you stitch it on the card itself by pricking holes in it. I did this motorbike for him and loved doing this! Just what I needed another craft to cram into my life, like I haven't enough already, lol!

So that's what I can show you this week, there are a couple of things but they are for a birthday present and can't be revealed yet.

Well I'm off to try and catch up and everyone's blogs again! Have a great week everyone and don't forget to enter the giveaway :-)

Catching up, ami swap and I've reached 100 followers!!

Well hello everyone!  Welcome to my new followers, lovely to meet you :-)  That means WOOHOO I've passed the 100 followers!! A giveaway to celebrate is in the offing, details to come next week so keep watching :-)

So this week I can show the things that I couldn't show last week because everything is in it's new home now and it won't spoil any surprises. I'll start off with ami swap time!! A quick expanation to those who don't know what this is, the lovely Steph over at Dolly Dolly Daydreams and me swap a crochet or knitted amigurumi (cute softie) at the start of every month. The swap is always fabulous and getting a present every month is great :-)

So for this months swap Steph sent me Daisy the donkey! Isn't she sweet!!!

I love her gorgeous face and the cute bee button in the middle of the daisy :-)
I sent Sally the bear to Steph,

Now I admit, she was hard to part with, I can see me making another one to keep :-)

Also this week was the fabulous Laura's birthday! So her pressies were also in the top secret pile until now.
I stitched her one of the mushroom needlecases, a Union Jack keyring and a crochet owl

and a bookmark too, I loved this quote by Louisa May Alcott 'She is too fond of books and it has addled her brain' :-)

I'm pleased to say Laura loved them :-)

For my makes this week I was making things for my stall at the craft fair this month. Being at a garden centre I seem to have come over all flowery! First up I made some embroidered butterfly brooches,

then the flowers started to appear. Daisy felt hearts, which I really like, I can see these in a few different colours.

Then an explosion of keyrings appeared! These were really fun to make, I got to pull out all my ribbons and make up the colour schemes to suit them, I got a little carried away and I'm not done yet!

Next I'm back on the mushroom cottages as I want to build up a few more for making a fab village on the stall :-)

So have a great week everyone and I'll be back with the giveaway next week so don't forget to come and enter!
