Welcome to my blog!

I'm Lori and I love to craft. I cross stitch, knit and crochet and anything else that takes my fancy! I love to make amigurumi and other knitted and crocheted characters.
I live in the north east of England and when I'm not busy with thread or wool I love to read thrillers and watch things on the TV that make me laugh. I have a love of tattoos too and have quite a collection!

My first craft fayre

Hello!! Welcome to my new followers, lovely to meet you :-)

So sorry I've been missing for over a week! I was contacted last Monday morning to be offered a stall at a local fayre called the Makers Market on Sunday, which left me six days to get ready! I never stopped all week, making, pricing, organising and getting sorted.

So the fayre was good, weather wasn't great, no snow here but freezing cold and lots of frost all day which I think put off buyers unfortunately as it was fairly quiet. It was at the beach so being freezing I can see why it was quiet, I mean the last thing you think on a really cold day is lets go to the beach :-) According to the other stall holders it was busier in January! Oh yes and the heating was broken so I was completely frozen at the end of the day! However I almost made the cost of my table back and enjoyed it a lot so I booked in for next month before I left. Also found out about two more possible fayres later in the year and gave my business out to a lot of people so it seems promising. Now I've dipped a toe in the water I found I enjoyed it! I have some ideas for new small items that I can sell for a couple of pounds to tempt people in.....

Here's some pics of the stall set up,

I discovered that a mug tree is great for displaying key rings and a cake stand is wonderful for brooches too, lol!!

I made a couple of new houses last week too, this is Gerbera Cottage with lots of pretty coloured flowers around the door.

This is Rosebud Cottage with pink rose bushes either side of the door.

I like how these ones turned out :-) They'll be listed this week in my shop. I have a couple more cut out ready to make this week, they are so much fun!

It was my Mam's birthday this week too so here is the card I made for her, it was a free kit from Card Shop magazine and looks great stitched.

Other stuff I've made this week I can't show yet as it's for a swap so I have to keep it quiet for now :-)

So that's my mad week, this week should be more normal, if there is such a thing!

I have been wondering how you got on, I am glad you had fun. Your store looked scrummy to me and I yelled (in my head) 'A TOADSTOOL VILLAGE!' They look fabulous all together like that. So having more time to plan your next one is going to look even better! Can't wait to see it!

your stall looks beautiful! i'm glad you enjoyed it and i am sure you will make lots of sales in the coming months. i used to sell my wares (years ago) quite regularly at a couple of london markets and absolutely loved it :) i made victorian style lamp shades and all sorts of fripperies (lacy cushions and bags and such). your work is absolutely amazing! i think you will do very well indeed.
love your mum's card too, i bet she was very pleased with it.

talking of cold, it's bloomin' freezing here tonight. i think i'll go and make a hot water bottle. don't forget to wrap up warm at your next craft fair, it can get surprisingly nippy even in march. i used to have a little tin of homemade shortbread on the front of my stool for the little ones to chew whilst their mum's were perusing, or indeed for the mum's to nibble on whilst they were deciding between an embroidered handkerchief and a tabby-cat egg cosy. on lady used to turn up regular as clockwork to eat a biscuit and share a drop of tea from my flask, she never bought a thing (i don't think she had very much money) but we always had a lovely chat.

I'm sure you are right about the cold keeping people away. Good luck with future events when it's warmer!

You put out a wonderful table! I kept spotting thing after thing I would be drawn to if I were walking by. The toadstools (of course) and those white hearts with the red embroidery were my favorites - although I think I spotted a crochet monster or two that would have followed me home. Well done!

I know how long it takes to fill a stall with a goodies and can see you've spent many creative hours filling yours. It looks lovely. Glad it was fun and you've decided to do more. (PS love those dragons pictured on your previous post).
